St. Isaac's Cathedral

So a LONG while ago, we went to St. Isaac's Cathedral. It was beautiful inside of course. (Church on Spilled Blood is still my favorite though) It is built by the River and they say that the ground is so soft that they never thought that it would last because it is made with some pretty heavy material. But they made a good foundation and it has been standing for 150 years. It is the largest Cathedral in St. Petersburg! St. Isaacs Cathedral to Russians, is like the Salt Lake Temple to us. They worked on it for 40 years and people died working on it, and others spent their whole lives finishing it. Take a look...

Sorry that it is kindof covered... The building in the way is actually the famous Astoria Hotel.

Everything is made of like 14 different types of Granite and Marble. Its beautiful!

The Dome. All the way up there, is a Dove that is hovering in the middle of the Dome. It is actually like 7 feet tall or something. So you can imagine how big this dome is! The acoustics in here are amazing. We happened to be going through it when they were having a service, so we heard the choir singing and it was awesome!

Another group Photo...

This Cathedral was actually designed by a Catholic. Which is weird for a Russian Orthodox Church. So he added this Stained Glass into the Cathedral. It is the only Orthodox Church in Russia with Stained Glass.

Sorry I haven't been to great with updating...I will try harder! Love you all!
